Aerospace Parts Security – Mutilation of Aerospace Parts

Our Aerospace Parts Security (APS) division mutilates aerospace parts rendering them unusable in aircraft engines and other aerospace components. Sims Metal Management Aerospace APS process was developed specifically to help defeat the trade of bogus, illegal and “Suspected Unapproved Parts,” some of which emanate from scrapped aircraft parts.

Such protection of aerospace parts is proving valuable to aircraft engine makers, airframe manufacturers, aerospace component manufacturers, commercial airlines and overhaul and repair companies.

Under tight security, APS either makes incisions into the scrap parts, part-by-part, or defaces them by other techniques. At the completion of the defacement, they are uneconomical to repair and sell – illicitly – as aerospace parts.

The mutilation process is documented and quality-checked at each stage of operation and the customer receives a Certificate of Compliance for each shipment.
